Coach's One-Word Letter 'You!' Secures All-American Recruit for UVA Football

A coach's one-word letter to a recruit helped solidify his commitment to the University of Virginia football team. Coach Mike London may not have the best record so far, but his unique recruiting may change that this year.

The coach's one-word letter consisted of just "You!" highlighted in bold red lettering. It was sent to Jeffrey Farrar, who is a three-star athlete from Upland, Calif. Although Farrar had already formally committed to the University of Virginia back in August, it isn't strange for coaches to still attempt to woo the very best players, as they are constantly being besieged with offers in the competitive nature of college recruiting.

London's letter stood out so well from the rest that Farrar tweeted a picture of it to his followers.

"So I opened this letter from coach London and I'm not really sure what it means haha. This is a new one coach L #UVA," the teenager wrote.

He later deleted the tweet, explaining to some of his confused followers on the microblogging social media network that he fully understood the meaning behind the one-word letter.

"You" stands for me being apart of a good class coming in, so for you fans who live for this stuff. Relax, I know what the letter meant," Farrar posted.

The letter certainly seemed to work too, as the future freshman's Twitter bio reads "#AllAmerican #UVACommit #Footballsthesport, HighLights below."

London's losing record of 18-31 over the last four seasons is anything but stellar, but so far his unusual recruiting methods seem to be working: in addition to Farrar, he has also managed to land one of the best recruiting classes for 2014, according to NESN.

The letter addressed to Farrar has also brought the UVA Cavaliers additional publicity, which is never a bad thing for a team looking to lure the best new recruits.
