The episode was about a new surgical attendant, Cole Guthrie, clashing with Leanne. Cole was able to join Angels Medical because of his estranged dad. He has different medical views and approaches to treatment, leading to a rough start with Leanne. The episode also showed Christa having a crisis. She was treating an infant when she suddenly remembered the loss of her boy.
These "Code Black" rebroadcasts from CBS will prepare viewers for Season 2, which is just a few weeks away.
'Second Year'
There are a number of predictions as to what will happen next season. A few weeks ago, an official photo from the creators of the show was released showing Rob Lowe as Dr. Ethan Willis. Dr. Willis is a combat surgeon from Afghanistan and his services will be greatly appreciated in busy Angels Medical.
Still according to reports, Executive Producer Michael Seitzman said that they had to revamp the cast members to please audiences. They had to let go of Bonnie Somerville, as well as Raza Jaffrey.
Somerville was Christa in the first season of the show, while Jaffrey was Neal. Seitzman added that removing these actors was not easy. He said that decisions were complex and were not easy to comprehend.
Boris Kodjoe (who plays Dr. Will Campbell) and Jillian Murray (who portrays Dr. Heather Pinkney) are now regulars of the show. Fans are unhappy about this decision, since the characters that these actors play just appeared in the show during its final episodes of its first season. The EP said that they have reasons why they chose to retain these cast.
