'Code Vein' News: Devs Show Off the Detailed Character Creation System

Created characters in 'Code Vein' will feature that distinct 'anime' look

Players are going to navigate the dangerous world contained within "Code Vein" using their own created characters, and it looks like they can really inject some personality into their in-game avatars.

The game's developers gave fans in attendance at the Tokyo Game Show and viewers at home via YouTube early looks at the detailed character creation system.

The character creation process began at around the 44-minute mark of the video embedded below, and right away, viewers should notice something about the base characters they can customize.

While this upcoming action role-playing game has been compared quite often to entries in the "Dark Souls" series, viewers will notice that at least from an aesthetic standpoint, there are notable differences. For instance, character models in the new game feature that unmistakable anime-style look.

Developers then proceeded to make adjustments to the base character model, and it looks like several elements of the in-game avatar can be adjusted to the player's liking.

Elements of the character's appearance such as skin and eye color can be changed. Colors for individual eyes can be adjusted as well.

Players can also select the specific hairstyle they want the characters to have and they can even layer the colors.

Special markings can also be applied to created characters in "Code Vein," and there are some wearable accessories available as well.

Notably, players can still make changes to their characters even after they have made some progress in the game.

Speaking during a closed-door Q&A session, producer Keita Iizuka revealed that it will be possible for players to change the main characteristics of their characters even after they have started, Siliconera reported.

Players do not need to just adhere to a specific play style, and they can change certain things to make it easier for them to move past enemies in the game.

The character creation and customization systems included in "Code Vein" will be made accessible to players as soon as the game is released sometime next year.
