Connor Cruise and Nicole Kidman Have 'Solid' Relationship, Cruise Says
Despite rumors to the contrary, Connor Cruise and Nicole Kidman have a good, "solid" relationship. Rumors of their distant relationship have been quelled by Cruise, Kidman's adopted son with former husband, Tom Cruise.
"I love my mum," Connor told "Woman's Day Australia." "I don't care what people say, I know that me and Mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else."
Connor, 19, is the younger of two kids Cruise and Kidman adopted together; there is an older daughter, Isabella, who is 21. The children decided to remain with Tom after he and Kidman divorced, but keep in touch with their mom, according to Connor. There was also some belief that the Church of Scientology was keeping Kidman away from the kids, but that has also been denied.
Kidman and Cruise split in 2001, and she married Keith Urban in 2006. They are still together and have two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Kidman and Urban spend time in both Australia and the United States, which makes it somewhat difficult for her to maintain a steady relationship with Isabella and Connor.
"Isabella does still speak to Nicole, as does Connor, just not as much as they used to when they were younger and Tom and Nicole were together," a friend told Us Weekly in 2012. "Nicole is far away and doesn't visit L.A. often, so there's naturally going to be that distance."
Kidman has remained relatively quiet about her children, giving them the privacy they want, especially when it comes to Scientology.
"I've chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology," Kidman told The Hollywood Reporter last year. "I have two children who are Scientologists – Connor and Isabella – and I utterly respect their beliefs."
Kidman next appears in "Divergent," which releases on March 21. Connor is currently working as a DJ, while Isabella is an art student.
