Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Fight News: UFC Fighters Offer Thoughts on Rumored Bout

Rumored McGregor-Mayweather clash still unofficial at this point in time

No potential fight in combat sports may be drawing as much hype right now as the still unofficial bout that could pit UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor against the undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., enough so that even some well-known UFC fighters are offering their thoughts regarding this possible clash.

First off, it was UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier who commented on how this fight could play out.

Speaking recently to ESPN, Cormier said that "Conor can't box Floyd Mayweather. Let's be real with ourselves."

Cormier added that "neither one of these guys can do the other guy's sport," again hinting that McGregor could be at a significant disadvantage should the boxing match indeed happen.

Aside from sharing his thoughts when it comes to how this possible fight could end up, Cormier also commented on how close it may be to finally being made official, with the UFC Champion noting that "it's looking more and more likely."

Also recently taking some time to talk about the potential effects of the rumored McGregor-Mayweather superfight is UFC welterweight competitor Gunnar Nelson.

Specifically, Nelson speculated on how the possible fight could impact McGregor's UFC career during an interview with ESPN.

Nelson knows a little more than most people about McGregor, seeing as how the two are friends and even training partners, and according to him, the Irish fighter continuing his UFC career post-Mayweather "will depend on certain things."

Nelson also offered a little insight into McGregor's way of thinking, sharing that the UFC Lightweight Champion is interested in "making history and all that kind of stuff."

For now, fans are still waiting to see if this rumored superfight really will become a reality, and it certainly looks like some UFC fighters are eager to find out the answer to that question as well.

More news about the rumored Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout should be made available in the near future.
