Cookie Teams Up With Old Foe Anika To Launch Rival Label In Oct. 21 Episode, 'Be True,' Of 'Empire'
In the fifth episode of Season 2 of "Empire," Lucious, now a free man, wants his family together so he can control them. Cookie and Anika get together to launch Lyon's Dynasty that will rival the Empire label while Andre gets baptized in an effort to quell his inner demons. This episode will also star singer Ne-Yo who joins Jamal, and Hakeem composes the Dynasty anthem.
Lucious Lyon is back to where he belongs – in the centre of Empire. The promo shows people cheering Lucious Lyons, welcoming him back, as a voiceover says in the background, "To the top of the Billboard charts, to the balcony of the New York Stock exchange, to a prison cell in Brooklyn, Lucious Lyon has emerged a free man."
Co-creator and executive producer of "Empire" Danny Strong says in the video, "Lucious is back as head of Empire, and he wants his rival label to go back. He wants his family back together, much more so that he can control them as oppose to parental love, which doesn't seem to come so easily for Lucious. His goal would be to get rid of Lyon Dynasty!"
This hints at a major blowout between Cookie and Lucious in the coming episodes. The Lyons siblings, Hakeem, Jamal & Andre, seem to be growing apart each day.
All this spurs Cookie to branch out on her own and she is busy putting the final touches to the launch of her label, Lyon's Dynasty, with none other than foe-turned-colleague Anika.
The fifth episode of "Empire" titled 'Be True' can be summarized as follows: Cookie, Anika and Laz (guest star Adam Rodriguez) plan a big event to introduce their new company, Lyon Dynasty. They call the event, "Cookie Lyon's Block Party" and not only will it launch the company but it will also feature the artists under their label. The Dynasty anthem written by Hakeem will also be premiered at the event. In the meantime, Jamal has a project together with Ne-Yo (guest star Ne-Yo), Hakeem falls in love, and Andre tries to rid his soul of "past sins."
This week's episode will see the brothers fighting on individually to stake their claim to a musical legacy. The highlight of the forthcoming episode should be the "Cookie Lyon's Block Party."
"Empire" season 2 episode 'Be True' airs on Wednesday, 21 October at 9pm EST on Fox Network.
