Corey Feldman Wants to Return to the 'Friday The 13th' Franchise and Has an Idea How

Corey Feldman wants to return to the "Friday The 13th" franchise and he has an idea how it will go down.

For the uninitiated, the actor played the role of Tommy Jarvis in the 1984 film "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter," which also starred Crispin Glover.

The movie was supposed to wrap up the story of the serial killer Jason Voorhees but its success ultimately led to the expansion of the series centered on the iconic movie villain.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies via Movieweb, Feldman said that he "long had this vision" of giving "Friday the 13th" the "Halloween" treatment wherein they will make a film bringing back Tommy Jarvis that will disregard the events of the recent films.

Feldman believes that "everyone seems to have this huge crush on the Tommy Jarvis character" and that fans have developed interest in finding out where he is headed.

He adds that the attempts of bringing the character back to "Friday the 13th" were unsuccessful because "it's not Tommy Jarvis, it's a guy playing Tommy Jarvis."

The character was played by John Shepard and Thom Matthews in the 1985 follow-up "Friday the 13th: A New Beginning" and the 1986 sequel "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives," respectively.

His idea is that to successfully revive the character in the franchise, there is nothing else to do but "get back to the roots," adding that it is "The Final Chapter" fans consider as "the seminal end of everyone's favorite bad guy."

What would have happened if all those other movies were just some kind of bad nightmare. And the reality is that we last saw Tommy in the hospital room with his sister, and we think Jason is dead. You want to bring him back from that point, and continue the story thirty years later. Oh, my god, he still exists! That's the movie I think everyone wants to see.

Feldman made actual efforts to make his return to the "Friday the 13th" franchise a reality. He said that he had original writer Barney Cohen on board and that they planned to have franchise producer Frank Mancuso Jr. back as well. The plan was to "get the original crew back together, and do it the right way."

That was an idea we were floating. It all came down to the rights ordeal. And the reason there hasn't been another "Friday the 13th" movie in so long. Which is because it is owned by three different studios and five different properties. The problem is you have a franchise that is this is divided up by all this litigation.

While New Line Cinema was interested with Feldman's idea, they ended up doing a reboot that the actor believes fans "were not too gungho about" and diverted from who Jason really is. The idea of having the actor back was set aside as they decided to follow up the reboot series instead.

Whether or not Feldman will ultimately be back to the "Friday the 13th" franchise soon, fans will just have to wait and see.
