'Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy' PS4 Trailer, Gameplay News: Watch Crash Maneuver Through the Rapids in Hang Eight Level
Fans of Sony's upcoming platformer video game, "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy," got their first glimpse of the remaster with the release of its new PlayStation 4 trailer.
According to GameSpot, the three-minute footage features a playthrough of Hang Eight, a level from "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back." The clip showcases Crash's new foot moves and his first vehicle, a souped-up jet board. Amidst the waterfalls and rapids, the anthropomorphic bandicoot faces off with enemies like the Venus Fly Trap.
The remaster is expected to be launched for the PS4 on June 30. It will include Naughty Dog's three original Crash games: "Crash Bandicoot," "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back," and "Crash Bandicoot: Warped."
Vicarious Visions, who is creating the PS4 game, has reportedly used the old level geometry of the platformer, but players will find the gameplay entirely fresh and different. New features will include a unified checkpoint and save system, with both manual and auto saving. Time trials will also be available for each game.
In an interview with the official PlayStation blog, game director Dan Tanguay explained why they stayed true to the original as much as possible.
"This is a AAA remaster. We're giving this the love and attention to detail that we pay to all of our AAA games. We're building it using the original level geometry so that it plays as close to the original as possible. We've also referred to this as a remaster plus, as we are adding new features that we think the fans are going to love!" Tanguay said.
Although the three games in the package were all made exclusively for PlayStation, the remaster may not be. According to GameSpot, "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" may be released via multiple platforms, just like the newest set games in the "Crash Bandicoot" series. Gamers got to try out the game during the recently concluded PAX East event in Boston. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, those who attended got to play not only the Hang Eight level, but also the N. Sanity Beach and Heavy Machinery.
