Josh and Rebecca's relationship may be over before it actually begun and it may all be because of a new guy.
There is a new guy that has just been added to the "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 cast and presumably in Rebecca's life as well. The new guy may also be a hint that Rebecca's relationship with Josh could be over even before it actually started. Who can this new guy be and what is so special about him for Rebecca to give up Josh easily after chasing after him across the country?
A new guy
The new guy in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 is named Nathaniel, and will be played by Scott Michael Foster. Just like Rebecca (Rachel Bloom), Nathaniel is a lawyer which instantly gives them something in common. According to reports, he comes from a prominent family in a different part of California but it is not yet made known how he ended up in West Covina.

Reports also say that for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2, the character of Nathaniel will be a recurring guest role. But, the same reports say that it has a potential to be promoted as a series regular should the series be extended for another season.
Big impact on Rebecca and other characters
His multi-episode guesting already suggests that he will impact Rebecca and the other characters' lives greatly. His being asked for a return in a potential third season could only mean that he has a big part in the development of the storyline in the coming "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 and that he is not going away easily.
Happy with or without Josh
Rachel Bloom revealed in an August interview that her character is already on the road to happiness. This was after Rebecca had finally hooked up with Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III) in last season's finale. Josh finally broke up with Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz) which made their way towards a reconciliation wide open.
However, Rebecca's happiness will come with or without Josh revealed Bloom. Because of this statement, a new love interest for Rebecca in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 should not have surprised anyone.
Greg is missing
The "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 premiere on October 21 on The CW will be missing Greg (Santino Fontana) according to spoilers. His decision to bolt out of West Covina may be the one being referred to in the premiere episode's title "Where is Josh's Friend". Greg's departure may also have something to do with his realization that he loved Rebecca but completely ruined his shot with her in last season's finale.
Meanwhile, photos from the first episode of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 2 show that Darryl (Peter Gardner) is seemingly in a good place. This is after coming out and later having a boyfriend.
