'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 2 Updates: A Crazy New Teaser Released; Upcoming Season to Have New Opening Credits
Rebecca is shown in musical numbers wearing different wacky costumes in the new teaser for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2
Crazier musical performances are to be expected by fans in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 if the newly released teaser is anything to go by. The trailer, posted in the series' official Twitter account, features its lead Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) wearing different wacky costumes. Meanwhile, the show will have a whole new opening credit sequence to debut in its second season premiere.
New trailer released
Rebecca was shown dressed as an old-fashioned movie usher, a hamster, and a cactus in some of the musical numbers featured in the trailer of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2. Aside from Rebecca, Greg (Santino Fontana) also appears and seems to be punching someone in the face. This could be a hint of the fight being one of the complications brought about by Rebecca's confession in last season's finale.
Look back on Rachel and Josh
When viewers last saw Rebecca, she was finally back together with the love of her life and teenage sweetheart, Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez). He just broke up with his longtime girlfriend Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz). After Josh and Rebecca had an intimate moment at the back of a trailer truck, she suddenly had the urge to tell him the truth. She told him that she dropped practically her whole life in New York and moved to West Covina just to be with him.
Bloom said in an interview that as the co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, they have been able to do everything they wanted to do in the upcoming season now that Rebecca's reason for being in California is out in the open. It is also clearer now what she wants out of life since she is a little closer to finding her happiness. Bloom added that Rebecca's happiness may or may not include Josh.
New opening credits
When Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres on October 21, it will be with a whole new opening credit sequence. According to co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna, the opening sequence tells the viewers the show's thematic thesis statements for the season.
The lyrics of the new theme are really about what happened in the maiden season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It spoke about Rebecca working hard in New York and while she made a lot of dough, she was lonely. She just decided one day to move into a new house and career in West Covina where Josh happens to live.
McKenna added that since Rebecca went from being unsure about Josh to being absolutely certain by the end of last season, the new theme song will also reflect Rebecca's notion of the two of them running happily off into the sunset. Other than that, McKenna refused to reveal more in order to keep it as a surprise until the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 premiere.
