'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Season 3: Rebecca to Seek Revenge Against Josh?
The CW's highly-acclaimed dark comedy series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" has been confirmed for a season 3 renewal. And in the upcoming season of the show, fans will get to see a new Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) who is bent on getting revenge on Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III).
Series co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna previously teased that the show will feature changes in Rebecca as a protagonist as she will be trying a new persona in the forthcoming season.
"[She'll be the] person who is very, very, very romantically obsessed in the face of opposition and apathy from this person, with the added element of revenge and what she thinks she deserves. She feels she deserves something now," McKenna told Deadline in a panel on Sunday, April 9.
"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" tells the story of a woman who abandons her life and career in New York to start over and fall in love in West Covina, California. In the second season, she gets into a relationship with her ex-boyfriend Josh. However, in the last episode, Josh leaves her at the altar because he decided to become a priest.
Not only did this betrayal hurt Rebecca, it also brought to light the abandonment issues she has been dealing with ever since her father left her as a child. But instead of giving up or moving on, Rebecca vowed to seek revenge and destroy Josh.
In other news, actor Scott Michael Foster, who portrays the lawyer Nathaniel Plimpton in the show, has been promoted to series regular for season 3.
Foster appeared in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" as a recurring guest star in five episodes of season 2. His character is a lawyer from a prominent family who came from San Gabriel Valley and serves as a possible love interest for Rebecca.
David Hull, who plays White Josh — one of the close friends of Josh — has also been promoted as a series regular.
"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" season 3 has no confirmed premiere date yet.
