The film adaptation of Kevin Kwan's best-selling novel "Crazy Rich Asians" is slated to make a summer 2018 debut.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Warner Bros. has announced that "Crazy Rich Asians," which is directed by filmmaker Jon M. Chu, whose previous credits include "Now You See Me 2" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," opens in cinemas on Aug. 17, 2018.

However, when she meets his relatives, she is faced with the biggest shock of her life. Apparently, her boyfriend belongs to one of the most affluent families in Asia and is one of the most eligible bachelors in the continent.

The romantic comedy based on the 2013 novel of the same title will show how Rachel handles being thrown into the world of crazy rich Asians and having other girls in Nick's elite circle want to bring her down in the hopes of stealing her boyfriend.

More importantly, the movie features an all-Asian cast — reportedly a first in Hollywood — including Michelle Yeoh as Eleanor Young, Ken Jeong as Bernard Tai, Gemma Chan as Astrid Leong, Sonoya Mizuno as Araminta Lee, Chris Pang as Colin Khoo, Awkwafina as Goh Peik Lin, and Jing Lusi as Amanda Ling.

"Crazy Rich Asians" is the first installment of Kwan's bestselling trilogy, with sequels titled "China Rich Girlfriend" and "Rich People Problems," which were published in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

The "Crazy Rich Asians" movie adaptation is produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of production company Color Force, as well as John Penotti. Tim Coddington, Robert Friedland, and Kwan, the author himself, are serving as executive producers.
