Cressida Bonas Granted 'Compassionate Leave' From Marketing Job Amid Prince Harry Split

Cressida Bonas has reportedly been granted time off from work to deal with heartbreak in the wake of her recent split from Prince Harry.

On Wednesday, one day after news of the split broke, the British socialite, 25, appeared glum while making her way to work in London's West End. Bonas reportedly works for a marketing company in London's Soho and she was recently granted "compassionate leave" from her job in order to help her recover from her widely publicized split from Harry, 29, according to Vanity Fair.

"Cressida can't stand the fact that everywhere she goes, someone takes a picture of her on their smartphone especially when she is feeling down," a source told VF, adding that "She has been told it's OK for her to take some time off work."

As Bonas remains in hiding, Harry is currently in the U.S., where he will attend the upcoming wedding of his friend Guy Pelly in Memphis.

While some media outlets claimed the royal heir ended his two-year relationship with Bonas because she is "too needy," royal insiders insist this is false and that they are simply focused on different things right now.

"Cressida has decided she wants to focus on her career and Harry is really keen that she is allowed to get on with her life," a source told the Daily Mail U.K.

"He is furious at this suggestion that the split was in any way because she was relying too much on him. Cressida is one of the most independent people he knows," the source added.

Bonas is the daughter of 1960s society beauty, Lady Mary Gaye Curzon and her third husband, Old Harrovian businessman Jeffrey Bonas. She recently graduated from dance school Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is said to be focused on her career.

Harry and Bonas first began dating in May 2012 after being introduced by his cousin, Princess Eugenie. While they have agreed to go their separate ways at this time, an alleged friend of the pair alluded to the possibility of a future reconciliation.

"Cressie is only 25 and pretty young for her age at that. Prince Harry will be 30 this year and is at a different stage in his life," the friend explained.

"He is incredibly fond of Cressie, and understands that she wants to do something with her life and with her career before she considers settling down," the insider continued. "It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they got back together in a few months' time."

In February, Harry reportedly reached out to his sister in law Kate Middleton for love advice after constantly being subject to false tabloid rumors. Recurring splits reports are said to have added strain to his relationship with Bonas and Middleton did her best to help.

"Kate knows all too well how damaging false reports can be," a source told Look magazine U.K. "So she urged them to show the world they were still going strong before the story snowballed."
