'Criminal Minds' Season 10 News: Show to Feature 1990s TV Stars in Upcoming Season
With the season 10 premiere of "Criminal Minds" less than a month away, more spoilers have been released for the show's upcoming season. It has been reported that two 1990s former teen stars have joined the cast of the show.
The team's new addition, Kate Callahan, will be played by "Party of Five" alum Jennifer Love Hewitt. According to TVLine, Hewitt's character will be introduced while she's working undercover on a case.
"You don't see her doing something you don't see our team ever doing," said executive producer Erica Messer to TVLine. "[She has to] sit there and pretend to like a criminal."
It has been reported that Callahan will be going undercover to catch a pedophile, and the job calls for her to interact with the bad guy.
Meanwhile, another 90s teen star, Kerr Smith of "Dawson's Creek" fame, is slated to appear in the chilling first episode titled "X." Smith will play Frank Cowles, an acromotophile, or someone who has a sexual fetish focused on amputated limbs and amputees. Expect this already creepy premise to take a deadly turn.
In other news, Messer revealed that a long-term villain will be entering the fray soon.
In an interview with TV Guide, the show runner did not disclose the villain's identity, but she did describe some of the things that viewers can expect to see in season 10.
"You see that there is a bigger thing going on. It'll be a big case we touch on again midway through the season …We have our own little shortcut in the [writer's] room [when it comes to a name], but we haven't landed on anything yet to put it out there," Messer.
"Criminal Minds" season 10 premieres on Oct. 1 on CBS.
