'Criminal Minds' season 11 plot news: Aisha Tyler featured in recent promo
The hit TV series "Criminal Minds" released a new promo for its upcoming 11th season.
The teaser showed Hotch & Co. tackling more interesting cases. It also introduced a new character named Dr. Tara Lewis to fill the absence of A.J. Cook, who is on maternity leave. The teaser explained why she was to join BAU. She is a forensic psychologist who has a specialization in criminal cases. It was reported that Dr. Tara Lewis, played by Aisha Tyler, will be Dr. Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) love interest for the upcoming season. However, the season premiere will have him in a disturbing scene, as revealed by executive producer Erica Messer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, she said, "He gets to do a take down Reid style, which is just using his brain with a physical thing that's really disturbing - you have to turn away. It's not a standoff with a gun, it's a Reid version of a takedown."
Aside for Aisha Tyler, the season will also feature a guest star. "NCIS" star Marison Nichols will be joining BAU for several episodes as a top agent named Agent Colburn. Along with the exciting addition to the cast, it was revealed by Gubler himself that another character will depart the series in the next season. However, he did not share who will be exiting the show.
Fans predict that Gubler could be referring to J.J., who will say good-bye to the BAU team. However, other speculations have Morgan, Hotch, Garcia, and Rossi in jeopardy of leaving the team, as well. It is highly unlikely that Reid will be the one leaving since it was confirmed that season 11 will be centered around his character.
The premiere episode of Criminal Minds season 11 will be titled "The Job" and will air on Sept. 30.
