'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Spoilers: Dr. Reid Goes on a Date

After an eventful midseason finale of "Criminal Minds," the return of the series will bring a surprise.

The previous episode of "Criminal Minds" season 11 brought some violence when the team went on to work on a questionable case. The BAU tackled a case on a killer who experimented on his victims. It was revealed that the killer was hoping to find a cure for aging by blood transfusions.

The agents did their best to track him down. However, they were too late in saving his most recent victim. The killer was performing a heart transplant when he was arrested by the team.

With that, the episodes to follow for the rest of the season will just be as interesting. It was revealed that the midseason premiere of "Criminal Minds" will have Dr. Spencer Reid, played by Matthew Gray Gubler, going on a date. He will be having dinner with guest star Aubrey Plaza, who will take on the role of Cat Adams.

However, their date will bring an unfortunate surprise when Adams suddenly takes her gun out and aims it at Dr. Reid. She then explains that she is well aware that he works for the FBI. With that, she challenges him to think of a way to save himself and the rest of the people in the restaurant with them.

With that, it looks as though Dr. Reid's love life will not be seeing any good news. However, the executive producer of the of the series, Erica Messer, explained that it is time for the character to move on with his past romance. She said, "It's been two years. Maeve is something that will never go away in his heart. We want him to smile again and we think everybody else does too."

"Criminal Minds" season 11 is expected to premiere on CBS this January 13.
