'Criminal Minds' Season 12 Episode 17: Shaw Gets Threat From BAU

Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) friends in the Behavioral Analysis Unit will make sure nothing will happen to him ever again while he is in prison in the upcoming episode of "Criminal Minds."

In the upcoming episode titled "In the Dark," the promo shows Luke (Adam Rodriguez) coming to see Shaw (Harold Perrineau) in jail. He tells the convict that if Reid's life will be in danger once again, he will make the other man suffer. Luke's face when he utters the threat shows how serious he is. Shaw can tell that the agent is not playing games with him.

Last episode, Shaw was unable to stop a vicious attack on Reid. After he succeeded in transferring the latter away from the general population in prison, two burly criminals went and beat Reid until he became unconscious.

The teaser shows Reid back on his feet again, but he still looks weak. His colleagues in the BAU are doing their best to get him out of jail as soon as possible, but it is not that easy. They fear that they may be too late to save him. The promo also shows that they have another thing to worry about. Reid is shown screaming at the end of the clip as he looks at someone sprawled on the floor. Is it Shaw?

Meanwhile, the synopsis (according to CarterMatt) reveals that the squad's new case will involve two unsubs. Whether they are working in tandem still remains to be seen.

When two murders are recorded in the city, the BAU thinks that the crimes were done by two separate individuals. The two killings were just too different, suggesting that they are not the work of only one person. The teaser shows Rossi (Joe Mantegna) comparing one of the criminals to Dr. Jekyll, who transforms into his evil alter ego, Mr. Hyde, when the sun goes down. The unit is determined to track down the culprits before they can claim another victim.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
