Criminal Minds Season 12 One Actor Short; Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders Crossover? 13 Escaped Criminals Update
Thomas Gibson will be suspended for two episodes after being involved in an altercation with a producer on set.
Criminal Minds Season 12 will have one man down for two episodes. Thomas Gibson was in an on-set altercation that earned him a suspension. Meanwhile, more details for the upcoming season have surfaced. Regardless of the backstage drama, Season 12 appears to be exciting and thrilling more than ever. Plus, there is a possibility of a crossover with another show.
The Cause of the Argument
Thomas Gibson, who plays BAU Unit Chief Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner, is being suspended for two episodes after being involved in an altercation on set with a show's producer. Sources say that Gibson got into a creative argument with the said producer while directing and acting in a scene being filmed.
The argument later escalated and the next thing witnesses knew was Gibson exploding in anger and kicking the producer in the leg. The latter quickly went to the top CBS executives to report the incident which left the network with no choice but to take the necessary action.
Uncertain Future in the Show
Besides the two episode suspension, Gibson has been replaced as a director and will not be directing any episode for the coming season. As the matter is still being investigated by the network's human resources, his future in the series is still uncertain. Gibson though is still contracted to stay for the remainder of the season.
Gibson, who has been with the Criminal Minds from the start, issued a statement confirming that creative differences were the cause of the argument. He said he regretted what happened since everybody in the show wants to make the best show possible by working together.
It is actually the second incident of onset altercation that Gibson got involved in. He pushed another producer of the series a few years back. Although he was not suspended at that time, he was made to attend anger management classes.
Season 12 Spoilers and Possible Crossover
Criminal Minds Season 11 left off with the escape of the 13 convicts the Behavioral Analysis Unit team had sent to prison. In the first episode of the upcoming season, only five of the thirteen escaped convicts are still at large. Apparently, it is a new member of the team, Luke, who is responsible for catching the eight.
However, one of the five fugitives is Peter Lewis and he will give the BAU Team a hard time this season. Peter Lewis aka Mr. Scratch is known to manipulate his victims through mind-altering drugs. EP Erica Messer said that he is the main villain for Season 12. However, the BAU has always been known to be a solid team and as always, it is just a matter of time before Mr. Scratch and the rest will be captured again.
Another thing to look forward to in Criminal Minds Season 12 is the possible crossover with Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. More action and thrills are to be expected when the crossover does happen. The latter premiered last season and it stars Gary Sinise among others.
Criminal Minds Season 12 will premiere on September 28 on CBS.
