Cruise Ship Death: FBI Investigating 'Suspicious' Death of Virginia Woman

A cruise ship death is being investigated by the FBI, after a 62 year old Virginia woman was found dead inside her cabin.

The ship traveled back to Baltimore after the woman's husband claimed to have found her dead inside their cabin. However, the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death have sparked an FBI investigation into the incident.

According to reports the cabin door where the woman was found dead had a padlock on, and officials have now labeled the death on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas cruise as suspicious, and have launched an active investigation.

The cruise was scheduled to go on for seven days and had already gone from Baltimore to Port Canaveral in Florida, before going to the Bahamas and then finally to Cococay. From there it returned back to Baltimore as scheduled.

FBI agents boarded the ship on Monday after it arrived in Baltimore, and an autopsy is now being conducted on the woman to determine the cause and manner of death. Agents are now also conducting their investigations and interviewing the woman's husband.

Security expert Rob Weinhold has told CBS News: "Generally, a suspicious death is in order when there is an unexpected death or not easily explained circumstances, like no obvious signs of trauma."

He added: "At the end of the day, the crime scene needs to be preserved so that physical evidence as well as witness testimony can be used to determine exactly what happened."
