'CSI' Star Bankruptcy; Actor Claims Only $321 Disposable Income

"CSI" star Gary Dourdan has filed for bankruptcy in an effort to avoid foreclosure on his home. The actor has been with the popular CBS series for eight years as leading man Warrick Brown.

Now, though Dourdan is struggling to make ends meet. Court documents show that he has assets totaling a little over $1.8 million but owes his creditors nearly $1.7 million. One of those creditors includes the Union Bank, which holds the mortgage to his home, which is now in danger of being foreclosed on.

Dourdan reported his assets to the court, which were listed by TMZ and include only $200 in cash; $3,000 in a bank account; $4,000 in furniture; $200 in books; $1,500 in clothes; $500 in watches; and a vehicle worth $7,000. That said, Dourdan only has approximately $321 leftover every month to live on, once his bills are paid.

He told TMZ he "anticipates major acting roles" in the future, which would help him re-establish his credit and get back on his feet. One of the main reasons Dourdan has claimed he is in such trouble is thanks to Union Bank. In March of this year, he filed a lawsuit against the institution, alleging that they refused to help him during his time of need.

When Dourdan was laid off in 2010, he reportedly contacted Union Bank and asked for assistance in paying his monthly mortgage. The bank refused, citing new laws in California that prevented them from helping those hurt by the financial crisis. He sued to stop the foreclosure on his home and also asked for damages, but there has been no word on the outcome of that lawsuit.

Dourdan left "CSI" under an aura of controversy. There was speculation that the reason his characters was killed off was due to an inability to reach a contract negotiation with CBS. That led to Dourdan permanently leaving the show; he's been struggling with the law ever since.

He has been arrested twice for drug possession and once with felony battery after allegedly breaking his girlfriend's nose during an altercation.
