Dallas Cowboys NFL 2014: 5 Members Injured, Coach Hopeful They Can Play Against The Eagles

Jason Garrett, the coach of the Dallas Cowboys, has announced that despite having several of their players injured, they are positive that they would recover enough to return to the field during the team's upcoming practice session on Wednesday.

The team is preparing to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, but ended up with five players injured during the past few games, such as linebacker Dekoda Watson, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, defensive backs Jeff Heath and Tyler Patmon, and quarterback Tony Romo.

Watson ended up with a hamstring strain, while Lawrence had issues with his ribs.

Heath and Patmon missed five games total. Patmon was injured at the Cowboys' match against Jacksonville on Nov. 9, where he suffered injuries to both knees and an ankle. The team did end up winning 31-17.

Heath broke his thumb during the team's match against the New York Giants on Nov. 23, when he tackled their running back Andre Williams. He ended up having to undergo surgery a few days after.

Romo ended up with cartilage issues with his ribs, which affected his back and ended up with two fractured transverse processes.

Garrett is looking to their practice game on Wednesday to test their readiness and is hopeful the team will be ready to play for Sunday. However, out of the five and based on their injuries, Garett is more hopeful for Lawrence, Heath and Patmon to be ready to play.

"We'll see how those guys do, and maybe we'll have a chance to have those guys play this week," he said.
The pressure is on for the Cowboys to perform well in their upcoming game against the Eagles, especially after the Eagles beat them by 23 points during their Thanksgiving game.

Both teams are now tied for first place for the NFC East title, and should the Cowboys lose they would give Philadelphia a two-game lead, which would be difficult to recover from. Should they nab the win though, the Cowboys will end up ranked first place in the East division and make the playoffs.
