Dallas Cowboys Trade and Roster Rumors 2017: Team Will Meet Takkarist McKinley Before the Draft

With Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr gone, a lot of observers will point out that the Dallas Cowboys will need to address the issues at cornerback quickly this offseason. And they are right. Finding their replacements should be one of the team's top priorities. However, finding an elite pass rusher who can put pressure on opposing quarterbacks is just an important.

The Cowboys already have several pass rushers on their roster, but it seems that they want to add at least one more via the draft. Well, they'll probably take Myles Garrett in a heartbeat if they can. Unfortunately, he's going to be long gone once the Cowboys are on the clock with the 28th pick of the 2017 National Football League (NFL) draft. However, a lot of talented pass rushers in the draft should still be available when it's their turn to pick, and the team is going to take a closer look at one of them before the draft.

According to NFL Network's Courtney Fallon, the Cowboys will meet UCLA's Takkarist McKinley next month.

McKinley can definitely give the Cowboys a boost in that department, but he had shoulder surgery earlier this month and he's going to need four to six months to recover. It's possible that he may miss training camp and the preseason. Drafting him is a little risky, yet he can be a steal.

"Mock drafts experts have pegged him to go anywhere from seventh to 31st overall in the first round because of a shoulder injury," Dave Holcomb of FanRag Sports said in his report.

"The later in the first round that he is still on the board, though, the more tempting it's going to be for a team to select him. Even late in the first round, the reward may outweigh the risks since McKinley could prove to be an elite player," he continued.

McKinley is certainly a freakish athlete who has size and speed to be an elite pass rusher. Will the Cowboys take a chance and draft him?
