In their final meeting of the season, cross conference rivals clash at the American Airlines Center as the Dallas Mavericks host the Boston Celtics in the regular season of the National Basketball Association.

Both teams are getting similar results so far despite playing in opposite conferences and they are looking like playoff contenders as the season continues to roll along.

The Mavericks are in the thick of things in the Western Conference and despite surrendering a big lead against the San Antonio Spurs in the rankings, they are in a tight battle against the Memphis Grizzlies to see who can get the second spot in the tough group.
On the other hand, the Celtics are second in the Atlantic Division, only behind the Toronto Raptors by 3.5 games. They have a relatively comfortable lead over the New York Knicks who are third in the group and if the Celtics can continue this pace, they may be set to return to the playoffs despite it being early in the season.
The two teams already met earlier in the campaign and this coming clash will be their last of the season. In that battle, it was a close match-up but it was ultimately won by the Mavericks 106-102.
Boston got to a big lead at the end of the first quarter as they led 31-16 after the first frame.
In the second and third, the Mavericks were able to bounce back bit by bit to trim the lead to eight by the final quarter before they put on a great display in the final 12 minutes.
They scored 36 big points while holding the Celtics to 24 to eventually win behind Dirk Nowitzki's 23 points and seven rebounds.
