Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors Preview: Warriors Aiming To Keep League-Leading Record Against Dangerous Mavericks
Defending champions Golden State Warriors will be aiming to keep the best record in the league, as they take on the Dallas Mavericks.
The Warriors and the Mavericks will be playing against each other for the fourth time on Friday, March 25th, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The first time the two teams met was on December 30th, with the Mavericks winning by 13 points. The game's final score was 114-91.
In the said contest, reigning Most Valuable Player Steph Curry was on the sidelines, nursing a leg injury. His absence seemed to have affected the Warriors, as guard Klay Thompson himself admitted the gap that could have been covered with Curry's presence.
The Mavericks did take advantage, outscoring the Warriors throughout the four quarters of the game. Guard J.J. Barea was the team's top contributor, scoring 23 points, along with three rebounds, six assists and two steals, shooting 9 out of 12 from the field, through 31 minutes of playing time.
The Warriors did bounce back the second time around during game two on January 27th. This time, it was Klay Thompson who finishes strong for his team, who emerged victorious with a score of 127-27. Thompson was simply on point that night, shooting 14 out of 20 from the field, and 7 out of 12 from the three-point area.
He finished the game with 45 points and five rebounds, through 31 minutes of playing time.
The third encounter on March 18th was another dominant showing from the Warriors. With the 30-plus point performances of both Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, Golden State was able to come out on top with a final score of 130-112.
Thompson's shooting once again played a huge factor, as he shot 14 out of 22 from the field, and 10 out of 15 from the three-point area. He finished the game with 39 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, through 33 minutes of playing time.
Curry, on the other hand, piled in 31 points, along with nine rebounds, then assists, and two steals, through 34 minutes of playing time.
The top-seeded Warriors currently hold a record of 64-7, while the number seven-ranked Mavericks banner a win-loss slate of 35-36.
