'Dance Moms' News: Abby Lee Miller's Sentencing Postponed

Less than two days before Abby Lee Miller is sentenced for her guilty plea in response to fraud charges, the United States Attorney's office asked that the hearing be moved to a later date.

Deadline ran an exclusive feature on the latest developments in Miller's fraud case, and so far, Pittsburgh area Judge Joy Flowers Conti has pushed the Feb. 24 hearing off the court schedule. Responding to a request handed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Melucci, which says "The government respectfully requests the continued sentencing hearing be moved to the earliest available date and time convenient for the court," Miller's lawyers gave their side's consent.

No date for the next sentencing hearing has been set so far.

While all of these were going on, Abby Lee Miller was over in the United Kingdom to meet fans in Newcastle on a leg of her dance-instruction tour. In an interview with The Chronicle, the "Dance Moms" star talked about her uncertainties with regard to the future of the show.

"While many other dance shows have different contestants and different hosts it's just us, it's the ALDC. I don't know if with this network and with this show they know what to do with it," she said, referring to Lifetime.

Against the prosecution side's objections, Abby Lee Miller was granted permission to get out of the country from Feb. 16 onward. She was expected to return on Feb. 21, in time for the sentencing hearing with Judge Conti.

The 50-year-old dance teacher pleaded guilty in June last year to charges of fraud related to her withholding assets during her 2010 bankruptcy hearing. Separate charges were also levied against Miller for neglecting to report more than $10,000 brought into the U.S. from Australia in 2014. She is currently outside custody on account of a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Meanwhile, "Dance Moms" season 7B has already started filming, and airing is expected to resume after a short hiatus.
