'Dance Moms' News 2017: Show Not Ending in October? Lifetime Clears Up 'Series Finale' Statement

An early report said that "Dance Moms" is getting off the air after the Oct. 31 episode of the show, sending fans and online news sites scrambling for a confirmation. Lifetime has since issued a statement clarifying the purpose of its season 7 finale.

An earlier version of an article by the International Business Times reported that the last episode of "Dance Moms" will be airing on Tuesday, Oct. 31, with the regular episode followed by two specials, via The Ashley's Reality Roundup.

The article was picked up by Radar Online as well, reporting that the reality show will be coming to an end after six years. IBTimes has since issued an update on Monday, claiming that Lifetime "backtracked" on the term it used for the last episode of season 7.

According to the update, the network issued a new statement on Monday, saying that the Oct. 31 episode will be a season finale, and not the series finale that a reporter for International Business Times called it on Friday, Sep. 22. For their part, the news site maintains that Lifetime described the episode as a series finale in an email on Thursday, Sep. 21.

That's great news for "Dance Moms" fans, but the clarification might not change much for original cast member Nia Sioux. She is leaving the show, as she looks to expand her horizons through music and acting, as she shared with Teen Vogue.

"I was just like, I'm 16 now, I'm growing up, the show has been a great platform, but it's time to move on," the cast member said.

"During the show, I couldn't take all the opportunities that I wanted to, and now since I'm off the show I'm getting to do what I want to do," the dance celebrity added.

"Dance Moms" resumes on Tuesday, Oct. 3, as fans get ready to meet the new dance group The Irreplaceables with the coming of the new month.
