'Dance Moms' Season 8 Renewal News: Will Show's Return Be Affected by Abby Lee Miller's Sentencing?
Abby Lee Miller will be in court on Wednesday, March 8. She is expected to be sentenced by then but if things come up, another sentencing date has been set for May 9. Will her sentencing affect the release of "Dance Moms" season 8?
ALDC coach Abby Lee Miller has been charged with fraud. There have been reports suggesting that she may face jail time for her fraud charges. It was decided on Feb. 24 that her sentencing will be on March 8. According to Deadline, Chief Judge Roy Flowers Conti noted that if further discussions will be needed after Wednesday, Miller's sentencing will be moved to May 9.
Rumor has it that filming for "Dance Moms" season 8 has kicked off. It remains to be seen if the series will continue with production if Miller gets sentenced to jail. Miller pleaded guilty to the fraud charges on June 27 last year and since then, there have been delays to her sentencing. This has led to the success of "Dance Moms" season 7.
The dance series has become a favorite among Lifetime viewers. Despite the emergence of Miller's fraud charges, fans continued to show their support. Chloe Lukasiak's surprise comeback for the finale of season 7 has also added to the hype for an upcoming season. However, Lifetime has not announced a renewal.
Meanwhile, Cinema Blend reports that the new season of "Dance Moms" could rely largely on whether Miller will be sentenced on Wednesday or not. After all, she is still running ALDC. If rumors of production having kicked off are true, delaying the sentence could produce a slew of new episodes.
The network has also not revealed its plans if ever Miller gets jail time. Filming for the second half of "Dance Moms" season 7 has started but there's no official word on the next installment.
Lifetime has yet to announce the renewal for "Dance Moms" season 8.
