'Dancing With The Stars' Season 19 News: Tommy Chong Eliminated, Week 10 Dances Recap
With Season 19 of "Dancing with the Stars" is drawing to a close next week, the five remaining pairs took to the stage on Nov. 17 as they danced two routines in hopes of making it to the finals. The pairs are dancing two performances to the same song, but in plugged and unplugged versions.
Here is the recap for the week 10 performances:
Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas
Score: 37 (out of 40)
Robertson and Ballas danced their first routine, the Quickstep, to Ariana Grande's "Problem." Len Goodman said that he found nothing that he didn't like, while Julianne Hough said that Robertson was a breath of fresh air.
Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd
Score: 28
The pair danced a jazz number to "Tainted Love." Bruno Tonioli said that he enjoyed every minute of it, while Carrie Ann Inaba called Chong the "MVP of this season."
Bethany Mota and Derek Hough
Score: 36
The pair's Samba to "I Want You Back" got mixed reviews from the judges. Inaba said that it was solid but she "felt underwhelmed," while Goodman likened the performance to cotton candy saying, "It was light and fluffy but a little sticky here and there."
Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy
Score: 40
The pair's fiery Paso Doble to "Blame" had the judges raving as Inaba said, "I wanted more! That was over way too soon!" Goodman said, "It was a great performance and a fabulous routine."
Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson
Score: 36
Despite nursing a back injury and almost having to leave the competition because of it, Ribeiro was on point as he danced the Argentine Tango to "Love Runs Out" with Carson. Hough called him a fighter and Tonioli, upon seeing Ribeiro in tears told him, "There's nothing to cry about because you're such an artist."
Round two of the competition featured the dancers as they performed to unplugged versions of the same songs.
Robertson and Ballas
Score: 37
The pair's Argentine Tango elicited good remarks from the judges as Goodman told Robertson that she deserves to be in the finals. They got a total of 74.
Chong and Murgatroyd
Score: 34
The pair's Rumba wherein Murgatroyd played a toy ballerina and Chong the toy maker moved the judges to tears as Hough said that it reminded her of The Nutcracker, while Inaba said that "that was poetry, that was magic." They got a total score of 62.
Mota and Hough
Score: 40
The duo's contemporary routine got the second perfect score of the night and Tonioli said that the performance was a "modern masterpiece." They got a total score of 76.
Parrish and Chmerkovskiy
Score: 38
The pair's Argentine Tango got positive responses as Inaba called Parrish as the most dynamic female dancer of the season, and Hough added, "you dance with everything you have." They got a total score of 78, which put them at the top of the leader board.
Ribeiro and Carson
Score: 39
The pair's contemporary number elicited great comments from the judges as Goodman said, "You're working through that pain, it was just terrific, well done." They got a total score of 75.
In the end, Chong and Murgatroyd were eliminated. As everyone in the studio gave them a standing ovation, Chong said, "I just showed that old stoners can perform when they need to."
"Dancing with the Stars" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
