'Dancing With The Stars' Season 20: Week 8 Elimination Night Results, 2 Contestants Sent Home
If there's anything that we have learned so far on "Dancing With the Stars" this season, it's the fact that no one is guaranteed to be safe. After Willow Shields' shocking elimination last week, fans now know that it's not enough to have high scores—votes make a huge difference as to who stays and who goes in the competition. This Tuesday was a tension-filled night for the celebrity contestants as two weeks of combined scores and viewer votes came together to determine the fate of the remaining six couples.
After a reprise of Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy's perfect scoring Paso Doble, the frontrunner was the first to find out that she was safe.
"I feel like we kind of figured out that going classical is our forte," said Willis. "So I hope that I can just keep improving on that."
The first elimination was announced after the break. It was between Noah Galloway and Robert Herjavec, and despite his undeniable chemistry with pro dancer Kym Johnson, Herjavec was sent home.
"You may not have won a Mirror Ball trophy, but I'm suspecting you've won someone's heart," host Tom Bergeron teased.
"Tom, I'm not sure I feel that way about you," Herjavec joked.
Erin Andrew also candidly asked the pair what the future holds for them now that their dancing days are over, and the "Shark Boss" star smoothly sidestepped the question and said, "It was so great to be here at this show. It was so much fun."
Later, it was announced that Olympic gold gymnast Nastia Liukin was also safe. Liukin called the experience "an amazing ride so far" and revealed that Derek Hough's injury brought them closer together.
Finally, it came down to Riker Lynch and Chris Soules. Both of them grinned nervously for the cameras as they know that one of them is about to join Willis, Galloway, and Liukin in the semi-finals next week. "I'm a little nervous," Lynch said, but it turns out that he had no reason to be as Bergeron announced that Soules is the second star going home.
The 33-year-old farmer was in tears as he said, "It's just been an incredible experience. I'm just thankful to have been part of it."
"Dancing With The Stars" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
