'Dancing with the Stars' season 21 spoilers and update: Len Goodman leaves; Peta Murgatroyd sidelined due to injury; cast revealed
It's official! The rumor mills have stopped grinding as the cast for season 21 of the hit reality dancing competition "Dancing with the Stars" has been named. The show features celebrities, personalities, and athletes alike and pairs them up with professional dancers for the duration of the show to tackle various genres of dance. It's everyone's favorite show.
The cast includes actress Alexa PenaVega from "Spy Kids" and her husband singer and actor Carlos PenaVega. They will be the first-ever married couple to compete against each other on the show. Alexa will be paired with Mark Ballas, while Carlos will be paired with Whitney Carson.
Bindi Irwin, the teenage daughter of the late Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, will be paired with Derek Hough. Singer Chaka Khan will be paired with Keo Mostepe, while actor Gary Busey will be paired with Anna Trebunskaya.
Social media personality Hayes Grier will be paired with Emma Slater. Reality star Kim Zolciak Biermann from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" will be paired with Tony Dolovani. Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys will be paired with Shana Burgess, while singer Tamar Braxton will be paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
Other cast members are former Food Network star Paula Deen who will be paired with Louis van Amstel and jockey Victor Espinoza who will be paired with Karina Smirnoff. Alek Skarlatos, one of the brave Americans who helped stop a gunman on a Paris train, will be paired with Lindsey Arnold. Singer-songwriter Andy Grammer will be paired with Allison Holker.
Professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd who was originally partnered with Andy Grammer had to bow out of the season due to an injury. She said that it was a hard decision to make, but she knows her health comes first and that she will be in the audience cheering for Andy and her friends. She promises that she will back on the dancefloor.
Judge Len Goodman will not be returning this season. After 10 long years of being a judge on the show, he is now stepping down, due to a scheduling conflict with the U.K based show "Strictly Come Dancing" and the birth of his grandson.
Instead, the show will feature some guest judges that will join the returning judging panel of Bruno Tonioli, Julianne Hough, and Carrie Ann Inaba. The show will still be hosted by Tom Bergernon and Erin Andrews.
Dancing with the Stars will return on Sept. 14.
