'Madden NFL 16' Release Date News: Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse Star in Spoof Movie Trailer (VIDEO)

Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse headline a fake "Madden NFL 16" trailer to promote the video game's release.

"Madden NFL 16" is set for an August release, and a new spoof movie trailer starring Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse has been released online to market the upcoming American football video game.

The trailer follows the story of a group of playmakers composed of Franco, Mintz-Plasse, Rob Gronkowski, Julio Jones, Rex Ryan, Antonio Brown, and Colin Kaepernick who attempt to beat an evil boss "so hard" in a "Madden" game.

The video depicts a 1980s action movie setting where Franco, who plays a mullet-head, mustachioed Blade Johnson, must challenge a rival in a "Madden" game to save his kidnapped girlfriend, Trish.

Backed by a T-Rex, Bollywood dancers, and ninja goons on motorbikes, Mint-Plasse plays Blade Johnson's BFF Janet, New England Pariots' Ron Gronkowski plays Half-Top, Pittsburgh Steelers' Antonio Brown plays Sticky Buns, Atlanta Falcons' Julio Jones plays Trick Montalban in a jetpack, Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan plays coach Lil' Pepper, and San Francisco 49ers' Colin Kaepernick plays Al Pacino from "Scent of a Woman."

Last year, EA Sports released a promotional video for "Madden NFL 16" in the same vein, also starring Dave Franco.

While the over-the-top promotional clip doesn't center on the upcoming "Madden NFL 16" game mechanics, it gives audiences a look at the resources developer EA Tiburon utilized to create and market the football simulation title.

EA Sports has put more focus on aerial duels between defenders and receivers, giving players more options when blocking offensive moves and delivering passes. There will also be a Draft mode that is geared at delivering unpredictable results with less time commitment from players.

"Madden NFL 16" will be released on August 25 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
