'Days of Our Lives' Spoilers: Who Killed Nick Fallon? (TRAILER VIDEO)

Everyone in the fictional town of Salem, Illinois is a suspect in the murder of Nick Fallon on the hit daytime series "Days of Our Lives." Who has the best motive and why would someone want to murder Nick? Read on to see if you can piece the puzzle together.

On Friday, Fallon was shot in the back by someone holding a gun with a silencer. Those who are the lead suspects include Sami Brady, E.J. DiMera, Sonny Kiriakis, Will Horton, and Abigail Deveraux, not to mention Gabi Hernandez. So who pulled the trigger? Take a look at the suspects and hedge your bets, given all you know, both on and off-screen.

Sami and E.J. worked together to hire a hit man to "take care" of Nick, who was not only threatening Sami's son Will but also Sami herself. After all, she was the one who tried to kill Nick the first time and cover up the entire ordeal. Plus, Nick and Sami, and Nick and E.J. each squared off to assert their power and intentions to continue on their path of destruction. Even though Sami wanted to cancel the hit, she later decided to allow it to be carried out for the sake of her granddaughter and son.

Sonny and Will each have motive to kill Nick, who threatened to destroy their marriage and take their daughter, Ari, away from them. It's not the first time that Nick has threatened to take Ari away from Will, but now Sonny is involved and last week took a pistol from the Kiriakis mansion. It seemed as though Will convinced Sonny not to go after Nick, but was he successful? Or did Will take things into his own hands?

Abigail had reason to kill Nick because he knew of her affair with E.J. She would do anything to protect her reputation, but just how far would she actually go? And finally, there is Gabi, who may have tired of being Nick's obsession and come to her senses. However, she's the least likely candidate to have killed Nick.

Only time will reveal who killed Nick, but given that Alison Sweeney (Sami) and James Scott (E.J.) are soon leaving the show, it could be the perfect ending for one of them.

"Days of Our Lives" airs weekdays on NBC.
