DC is Making 10 Superhero Movies in the Next 5 Years

Superhero movies are big business these days. Just take a look at the major studios that are jumping at almost every chance to create movies that will sell in the box office: Marvel Studios and DC/Warner Bros., and to some extent Sony.

DC Comics, which is part of the Time-Warner conglomerate, recently revealed some very ambitious plans to further expand their superhero cinematic universe, much like what rival Marvel Studios is already doing. According to a report in Variety, at the Time-Warner Annual Meeting last week, CEO Jeff Bewkes spoke about plans to "release as many as 10 DC Comics-related movies in the next few years." This naturally includes "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" of which he said there was "no more anticipated" movie for 2016.

In between showing teasers of the upcoming DC comics movie and other upcoming features, it was said that one of the points taken up during the meeting was plans for releasing 10 superhero movies from 2016 until 2020.

Another report in Cinema Blend, this meeting confirms that the expansion of the DC Cinematic Universe has the "full backing" of the Time-Warner conglomerate. The report continued by naming the 10 movies that will be coming out from Warner Bros. within the next five years.

In 2016, there will two big movies – the first is "Batman v. Superman" on March 26, 2015 and the second one is the anticipated anti-hero movie "The Suicide Squad" on August 5, 2016. The next year will bring the first solo film of "Wonder Woman" with Gal Gadot, and Part of "The Justice League." Jason Momoa will be seen as "Aquaman" in 2018, while "The Flash" will also have his own solo movie that same year. Part Two of "The Justice League" will be released in 2019, along with "Shazam," the story about a young boy who was bestowed powers by a powerful wizard to transform into a superhero. In 2020, there will be two solo superhero films, namely "Green Lantern" and "Cyborg."
