DC's 'Legends of Tomorrow' Spoilers: Brandon Routh Stars as The Atom, Hawkman Makes an Appearance (VIDEO)
The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow" is due to air next year during the 2015-16 season and already, spoilers have emerged on the upcoming DC series.
"Superman Returns" star, Brandon Routh is due to make an appearance as The Atom when DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" makes its debut on The CW next year.
The action sci-fi TV series revolves around the story of Rip Hunter ("Doctor Who's" Arthur Darvill), a rogue time traveler who recruits a disparate band of superheroes and villains to stop an apocalyptic event from destroying the earth and even time itself.
The Atom, based on DC comics character Ray Palmer, is a businessman scientist and inventor and CEO for Palmer Technologies. Routh's iconic DC role, who is set to appear in several episodes of The CW's "Arrow" as well as its spinoff "The Flash," is geared to be a main character in "Legends," itself a spinoff of the two successful shows.
Hawkman, played by German actor Falk Hentschel, is expected to appear in "The Flash" and "Arrow" in a guest role capacity as Carter Hall. The Hawkman, the most current reincarnation of an Egyptian prince, will also be one of "Legends'" main characters.
By the time "Legends of Tomorrow" premieres on The CW, Hawkman will be 5,000 years old after having gone through multiple reincarnations and retaining his memories of previous lives, an ability his reincarnated soulmate, Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), is incapable of doing.
Ciara Renee, whose character Kendra Saunders will also be introduced in "The Flash," plays a woman just beginning to realize she has been reincarnated several times over the centuries after wings grow out of her back following a provocation, awakening her ancient warrior alter ego.
DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will also star Victor Garber as Firestorm, Caity Lotz as the White Canary, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Wentworth Miller as Captain Gold, and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson.
