The game follows the titular protagonist as it paints Chroma City after the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation deprived it of its colors. With the city in black-and-white, it is up to de Blob to save the world by using its array of colors to bring back beauty to Chroma City.

THQ Nordic also released a trailer for the upcoming console version of the game. The trailer features some gameplay that will surely ignite nostalgia in fans. It also showcased a split screen feature that can be played by two or four players, with eight different multiplayer modes. Players can also "spice it up with custom color patterns and soundtrack styles."

Additionally, players can join the Color Revolutionaries, which is a resistance group fighting against Comrade Black, who has his own horde of hot plates and ink turrets up his sleeve. de Blob should look out for ink cannons and Inky soldiers, though. There are also I.N.K.T. tanks that players can crush.

While fans are excited that the game is coming to consoles, some have expressed their disappointment with the lack of a Nintendo Switch version, especially since the game started out on the Wii console.

The game received positive reviews upon its release in 2008. The Wii version currently holds a score of 82 on Metacritic, indicating generally favorable reviews.

"de Blob" will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 14.
