'Dead of Summer' Season 1 Finale Recap: Garrett as the New Protector of the Lake; Season 2 to Be of a Different Era
The first season of "Dead of Summer" concluded recently. Season 2 is set to portray a time jump along with the colossal shift in the storyline.
Season 1 finale recap
This supernatural horror series is set in the summer of 1989. A summer filled with first loves, first kisses, and will end to its first kills. The dark and ancient mythology of Stillwater is awakened and will bring the summer of fun to the most unforgettable scares.
Season 1 finale entitled, "She Talks to Angels", had Garrett (Alberto Frezza) and the remaining counselors fighting the demons. Before the show comes to an end, a final kiss and other life-changing events happen. There are also two major deaths in the show.
In the final scenes, Amy revealed that Holyoke's last piece of soul is inside Jessie. This leaves Amy as the last survivor standing. When she finds herself outnumbered, she raises some of her old friends from the dead.
Meanwhile, Jessie and Garrett discovered that Joel had recorded the hymn of Holyoke on his camera. This left them enough time to kill Amy. Later on the show, Garrett is found dead during battle. This means that his spirit will remain in Camp Stillwater. He becomes the new Protector of the Lake. It seems that after the final kiss of Jessie and Garrett, the spirit of Holyoke is passed on to Garrett.
As the episode closes, Jessie (Paulina Singer) went to Northwestern while she receives a postcard from Blair (Mark Indelicato) and Drew (Zelda Williams). Blair and Drew have settled down in Seattle. A "For Sale" sign can be seen in the camp, which is already closed.
A possible second season
The end of Season 1 had fans clamoring for a second season. In a report, Executive Producers Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz shared about the plans the show's future. Horowitz explained that the finale concludes the whole of the first season. He added that the show will tell more stories from Camp Stillwater. Each series is different from the other as the show progresses. And it will be a different era for each story told at the Camp.
Kitsis added that the show is going to be an anthology. All the people in the story will be connected as told. He shared that Season 2 will go back to the 1970's and will talk about Deb as the counselor. He even noted that there is a possible third season, which is set in 2004.
"Dead of Summer" Season 1 ended on August 30. As of this time, there is no official announcement for a second season yet.
