'Dead or Alive Xtreme 3' Release Date Update Latest: Koei Tecmo clarifies DOA still a Japan and Asian release only, but Marvelous Games has an alternative
Koei Tecmo has issued a statement clarifying its position on the controversial comment about "Dead or Alive Xtreme 3's" Western release posted by an employee at its official Facebook page. Meanwhile, Marvelous Games wrote a "cheeky" comment about the situation in Twitter.
In a statement issued Dec. 1 and posted at "Dead or Alive's" official Facebook page, Koei Tecmo clarified that the previous comment made by an employee about "Dead or Alive Xtreme 3" was solely the individual's opinion and does not reflect the views or business strategy of the company.
"We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategising to support the different global audiences the DEAD OR ALIVE franchise lends itself to," Koei Tecmo said.
It ended the statement by saying that "Dead or Alive Xtreme 3" is currently in development. Plans for release are limited to Japan and Asia only as of this time.
The employee had commented that Koei Tecmo had no plans of bringing the game to the West because of the "many issues with regard to how to treat female in video game industry."
Meanwhile, riding on the wave of publicity that the comment has gained, Marvelous Games posted a tweet about it while marketing one of its games at the same time. The game in question is "Seran Kagura Estival Versus," described as an action brawler that features cute and sexy anime girls in an online multiplayer matches so it's easy to see how it could be taken for a "DOAX3" alternative.
The much-anticipated game will release as "Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune and Dead" on PlayStation 4 and as "Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus" on PS Vita. Both titles will come out with an English language option. The games will hit stores on Feb. 25 in Japan and Asia.
