'Deadpool 2' Cast News, Release Date: Brianna Hildebrand Teases 'Cooler' Character; Zazie Beetz Cast as Domino
"Deadpool 2" is expected to introduce some cool new superheroes in action, but that does not mean familiar faces will not be turning up. Brianna Hildebrand, who played Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the first film, will be back to reprise her role for the sequel.
Hildebrand recently spoke to Screen Rant at SXSW and revealed that her character will be "cooler" in the upcoming film. "I've not yet actually read the script. But I do think she will be a lot cooler, based on the wardrobe ideas and stuff. I'm very excited," she gushed.
And while she has not actually seen her new costume, she has looked at some concept art. "Just some ideas, nothing that's concrete or anything," she revealed. "But I think it's cool that she's grown and matured and she still has so much of this essence of a punk kid."
But Hildebrand's character will not be the only female superhero appearing in "Deadpool 2." Domino, the assassin for hire and a member of the X-Men offshoot X-Force, will be joining her. The role has already been cast, and star Ryan Reynolds took to social media to reveal the news himself.
Zazie Beetz, who is more popularly known for her role as Vanessa on FX's "Atlanta," is set to portray the iconic female mercenary. However, the role of Cable has yet to be cast. It can be recalled that Reynolds revealed at the end of "Deadpool" that Cable will be appearing in the sequel. And while there have been many rumors and no shortage of interested actors, a decision has not been made.
"Deadpool 2" is expected to be as fun and hilarious as the first film, and this much already came across in the first teaser clip that was released in theaters with "Logan." The clip sees Wade Wilson walking along an empty street as he witnesses a man being assaulted. He heads to a nearby phone booth to change into his superhero costume--parodying Superman--but, alas, he took too long and the man ended up getting shot. And in true Deadpool fashion, he lies down against the victim's corpse and proceeds to eat the ice cream he bought.
"Deadpool 2" is set to hit theaters on March 2, 2018.
