'Deadpool 2' News, Release Date: Scriptwriter Confirms Filming Completion

Filming for the next "Deadpool" movie has officially wrapped. This was confirmed by "Deadpool 2" writer Rhett Reese, who recently took to Twitter to break the news.

The film was announced shortly after the first "Deadpool" movie ended its theatrical run. The announcement did not come as a surprise for fans, considering how successful its predecessor was. In 2015, the Marvel movie became one of the studio's biggest R-rated movies of all time, so giving its sequel a go signal was not a hard decision to make.

Earlier this week, Reese announced on Twitter that the follow-up to the first movie was already done with filming, confirming that its production went on for just about four months. "Deadpool 2" is now in its post-production, which means that fans can expect Marvel to unveil an official trailer or poster anytime soon.

Reese wasn't the only one who announced the end of filming for "Deadpool 2." Shortly after Reese's Twitter post, Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular character, also commemorated the completion of filming through an Instagram post, where he also joked about the official title of the sequel. "That's a wrap! Deadpool 2 is in the can!" he said.

A good number of teasers surfaced previously while production for the movie was ongoing, including some set photos showing Josh Brolin, who plays Cable, in an all-white suit. As the film goes into post-production, however, marketing efforts for "Deadpool 2" will certainly ramp up and more teasers for the upcoming film will make their way online.

"Deadpool 2" will see the return of Reynolds' Deadpool, Leslie Uggams' Al, TJ Miller's Weasel, Karan Soni's Dopinder, Morena Baccarin's Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic's Colossus. It will also introduce new characters from the original "Deadpool" comics, Cable and Domino.

"Deadpool 2" will hit theaters on June 1, 2018.
