'Deadpool 2' Release Date, Cast News: 'Atlanta' Actress Gets to Play Domino
After months of searching, the production team behind "Deadpool 2" have already found the perfect actor to portray Domino and it is no less than "Atlanta" star Zazie Beetz.
News of Beetz's casting came out after producer and Deadpool actor himself, Ryan Reynolds, revealed the information through Twitter.
Unfortunately, the first subtle announcement from Reynolds was a little bit hard to decipher. He used actual domino blocks and edited the photo to add more dots. However, fans could not make out a name. But the caption "Domino Effect" was enough to get fans excited.
When Reynolds realized his Twitter followers need an easier photo to understand, he then shared a mock-up cover of a "Deadpool" comic that he called "Zazie Beetz Effect" where the "Atlanta" star's face is photoshopped to the head of Domino.
X-Men fans know very well that Domino, in the comics, has always been with Deadpool, even in the early days of the anti-hero's appearance, so the introduction of Domino in the sequel movie has always been a given event.
The "Deadpool 2" team had been searching for the perfect Domino actor since 2016. In fact, back in October last year, reports surfaced that the producers had shortlisted the names of prospective actors for the role. However, Beetz was never in that list.
An insider tip shared that some of the actors considered to play Domino were Lizzy Caplan ("Now You See Me 2"), Mary Elizabeth Winsted (Final Destination 3), Sienna Miller ("G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"), Sofia Boutella ("The Mummy"), Stephanie Sigman ("Narcos"), and Sylvia Hoeks ("Overspel").
Shortly after, Collider updated the report and shared that more actors were added to the list for the Domino role, including Mackenzie Davis ("The Martian"), Ruby Rose ("Orange Is the New Black"), Eve Hewson ("The Bridge of Spies"), and Kelly Rohrbach ("Baywatch").
Now that Domino has a face for the big screen, there is only one major role left to fill and that's for the character of Cable. Some of the rumored names were as huge as Kyle Chandler and Liam Neeson. However, no confirmation from the production team can back the claims.
"Deadpool 2" is slated to premiere in 2018.
