'Death Stranding' Latest News: Mads Mikkelsen Reacts to Emma Stone Casting Rumors in Kojima's Project

Game director Hideo Kojima and the rest of Kojima Productions have been working very hard in developing the upcoming PlayStation 4 title "Death Stranding."

Several Hollywood actors are confirmed to star as characters in the video game, including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and even a guest appearance from Guillermo del Toro. But now, the rumor mill is churning out another name speculated to be attached to appear in "Death Stranding" — Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone.

Rumors of Stone's casting in "Death Stranding" have been running rampant that even Mikkelsen, who portrays the game's villain, was asked about the Oscar-winning actress' possible involvement in the ongoing project at the Saudi Comic-Con last February. However, the actor remained tight-lipped on the matter.

"I can't talk about that, but I really like that rumor. That's a lovely rumor," Mikkelsen said at the event, according to GameRant.

Though Mikkelsen's response neither confirms nor denies Stone's rumored casting in "Death Stranding," his enthusiasm over the idea that Stone might be joining them to work on the upcoming video game might give hope to the actress' fans as well as the gaming community.

The rumor of Stone's involvement in "Death Stranding" actually started because of Kojima. Last December, Kojima revealed that he met Stone and expressed his admiration for the actress.

Then, on Feb. 22, Kojima posted a photo on Twitter featuring a female mannequin wearing a beanie from Lionsgate, the entertainment company that owns Summit Entertainment, which in turn produced Stone's recent film "La La Land." The photo fueled fans' speculation that the actress will be a part of "Death Stranding."

Although the rumors of Stone's casting in Kojima's video game project remains unconfirmed, many hope for Stone's participation in "Death Stranding" especially since she has already appeared in a video game in the past, providing her voice for "Sleeping Dogs."

The idea of a collaboration between Stone and Kojima is not far-fetched because of the game director's known ability to secure well-known talents to be part of his projects.

"Death Stranding" is currently in development for the PlayStation 4.
