Debra Messing and Maria Menounos Allure Nude Photo Shoot Objectifies Women?

Masked as tips on how woman can build more confidence, Allure has developed another nude edition, which displays celebrities posing in the buff.

Maria Menounos, Debra Messing, Leslie Bibb, Taraji P. Henson, and Morena Baccarin all stripped for photographer Patrick Demarchelier in a photoshoot for Allure magazine's next issue. On the cover reads titles like "Get a Better Body" and "Nice Butt: 21 Tricks for a Bikini Ready Booty."

The magazine cover also mentions how celebrities get their confidence. Allure appeared to promote that confident women are those who are willing to bare it all; some celebrities even saying that they feel better about themselves for doing it.

"This was definitely challenging," 33 year-old Extra host Maria Menounos said after commenting on how she was shy about revealing her body, "but I feel so much better having done it."

Another celebrity even admitted that she had to undergo a four-day "juice cleanse" in order to be ready to pose naked.

"It was an angry four days," Leslie Bibb said. "Sam [Rockwell, her boyfriend] was like, 'Thank God I'm not with you right now. You are not nice on the juice cleanse.'"

Some questioned the intended purpose of the nude photo shoot.

Should women have to pose naked or undergo harsh cleanses that involve not eating for days in order to feel confident about themselves? Some even suggested that the article actually made them feel less confident because the photographs appeared to have been altered.

"The pictures were photo shopped. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose?" Shadalee3 asked on the Allure site.

Actress Morena Baccarin, who also posed for the magazine, disagreed that the photo shoot was over the top.

"This is for the art of it. It's beautiful," Baccarin said.

The magazine shoot however seemed to appeal more to men than woman, painting women more so as sexualized objects than confident ladies.

"Debra Messing is hiding boobs that she doesn't even have. LOL," Worsham-Horter wrote on the US Weekly blog.

"Maria has the weirdest body. She's super tiny on top and has really wide hips. Her lower half was really airbrushed here," Mike Beggins added.

"I can honestly say I didn't even read the article ... I just wanted to see Debra Messing nude!" Bob said on the Yahoo blog site.

One Allure reader questioned why the magazine would reveal the women naked?

"I don't understand why [Allure] would put naked pictures of women into a women's magazine. I don't want to see naked women," Quantumspock stated.
