Demi Lovato Now Sober After Drug and Alcohol Problems

Demi Lovato addressed the problems of her past in an intimate interview and admits to previously alleged drug and alcohol abuse problems while also touching on her relationships with Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.

"Seventeen Magazine" had the exclusive interview which dug deeper than her previously known issues of bulimia, anorexia, cutting, depression, and her diagnosed bi-polar disorder.

"I'm not gonna lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain," she boldy admitted. "[But now] I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't throw up after my meals, I don't starve myself. There's nothing that I do that I feel ashamed of," the singer said to the magazine.

Lovato said her fellow Disney stars, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, were two of the major factors she was able to get through all of her issues.

"There were two people [there for me]. No matter how many times we fight, we will always be in each others' lives. [Miley and I] are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it's brutal and we're like, 'We're never going to be friends again!' Then two days later, we're like, 'I love you and I miss you!'" she told Seventeen referring to Cyrus.

"Selena Gomez and I, we never fight. She's not a confrontational person at all. Both of them will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we've been through so much together."

Recently Lovato lashed out against Disney and its show "Shake It Up!" for making a eating disorder joke.

The joke in question, “I could just eat you up, well if I ate."

The line spoken by one of the shows characters seemed innocent enough, except Lovato, who used to star on Disney's "Sonny With a Chance," battled with a well-publicized eating disorder.

"What are we promoting here?” tweeted Lovato. “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ [sic] from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about … that very disease.”

She continued, “And is it just me, or are the actress’ [sic] getting THINNER AND THINNER … Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.”

Lovato then explained, "Nor do I think there’s anything wrong with girls who aren’t curvy, I just was stating a fact that there needs to be more variety on TV so young girls growing up don’t feel pressured to look one specific way.”

Disney Channel did some damage control and sent out a tweet from their media relations account. “We hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them … It’s NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!”
