Denise Richards 'Wants to Be There' for Brooke Mueller's Twins

Denise Richards is busier than usual with the addition of Brooke Mueller and Charlie Sheen's twins to her household. Richards took in the two boys when Mueller checked into rehab for Adderall addiction and insists that she "wants to be there for them."

"You just figure it out because you don't have a choice. You have these children depending on you. You prioritize. I had children because I want to be a parent, and I want to be there for them. I think my biggest challenge is [that] their different activities sometimes overlap," Richards told Us Weekly. "I have a good schedule going. You just manage."

Richards and Sheen have two daughters, Sam and Lola, and Richards adopted daughter Eloise. Now she has taken temporary custody of twins Bob and Max. It's definitely a full house for the working mother, who is currently filming the ABC Family series "Twisted."

Mueller allegedly attempted to get custody of the twins changed and the boys given to her brother, but a judge ruled that the boys were best in the care of Richards. She has taken them in before and the boys are comfortable in Richards' home. Richards has worked to have a good relationship with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, and now, she says, "it's so much better."

"There are a lot of feelings and emotions there, but at the end of the day, our daughters benefit from us getting along, and I do, too. I don't want to have an unhealthy relationship with him, something toxic with a lot of animosity. Life's too short for that. We actually enjoy hanging out, and we enjoy being with the kids," Richards said.

Sheen surprised Richards by letting her use his personal jet for Mother's Day so that she could be home in time to take the kids to school on the following Monday. Sheen is comfortable with the court's arrangements for his sons, and even offered to pay extra child support to Richards, which she refused.

"Charlie supports the actions of the Department of Children and Family Services," Sheen's representative said in a statement after court on May 3. "He knows Max and Bob are safe in a stable, loving environment with Denise and the boys' sisters."
