Denver Broncos Injury News: Peyton Manning Out for Two Weeks (Again) with Torn Plantar Fascia
One of the biggest reasons why the Broncos are a big draw and considered as one of the most popular teams in the league is because of star quarterback and future Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning. He has had one of the most storied careers in the NFL, but at 39 years old, he's showing the signs of wear and tear in a sport dominated by physical contact.
The Denver Broncos announced on Tuesday that Manning will again be missing at least another two weeks as he struggles to recover from a plantar fascia tear, which will force him to wear a walking cast. The team further said that the extension of his time out in the game is due to the required additional rehabilitation for the bad foot, something team officials didn't expect earlier. The decision was made after consultations with renowned foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.
With the injury, Manning was inactive during the Broncos' 17-15 win against the Bears, officially ending their two-game losing skid.
Brock Osweiler is a more than capable type of substitute, but with the news that Manning is out for several weeks, the team will definitely look for other options as the season comes to a close. At this point, reports are coming in that former Vikings Christian Ponder is being considered.
Coach Gary Kubiak has high hopes for Manning's speedy recover, though. "Peyton and I had a good visit today, and we've got a plan in place for his recovery," he said about Manning's visit to the doctor. "His foot will be in a cast for at least a week, but he'll be able to be part of meetings and do some workouts with the rest of the team," he added.
But with the recent injuries causing him to miss significant time this season, Broncos fans can't help but speculate about Manning's future with the team.
