Denver Broncos News: Broncos reveal three captains for the season.
Three familiar names will be leading the charge for the team in the coming campaign.
Only days away from their first match in the new season of the National Football League, the Denver Broncos recently revealed their three captains for the coming campaign.
Considered one of the contenders for the title this season, the Broncos management decided not to change the picks. And again, they chose Peyton Manning to lead the offense, DeMarcus Ware to anchor the defense and David Bruton to supervise special teams.
The three players were also picked last year, along with Demaryius Thomas and Terrance Knighton but at this juncture, only three are picked.
Players themselves voted on who should be the captains for the team and coach Gary Kubiak is happy with the results.
Manning, who is considered one of the best quarterbacks to play the game, concedes that it is a big thing to be mentioned as the captain of the team.
Talking to the press, he claimed: "It's certainly an honor. It's not something you take for granted. We voted today so it's been a process since April. There are a lot of new players, new coaches, so I've always thought that any player, their first priority is to earn the respect of their teammates and coaches. ... It was a nice honor to hear that news today."
Having Manning, Ware and Bruton as captains, it establishes the leadership of Denver as they are the more experienced stars who can certainly mentor the new players of the team.
However, Ware revealed that the team will also appoint captains per game week as they will have a player leadership council that will vote for the weekly heads depending on how they performed during the previous week.
The Broncos open their season at home when they welcome the Baltimore Ravens.
These are considered two of the better teams in the league and an early clash of contenders is one that will surely attract attention.
