Denver Broncos NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Garett Bolles Suffers Lower Leg Bruise
There was no stopping the Denver Broncos this past Sunday as they cruised to a 42–17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. They were simply dominant on both sides of the ball, but unfortunately, they didn't finish the game unscathed.
Things didn't look good at all when Garett Bolles got tangled up with Cowboys defensive lineman Brian Price in the third quarter of the game. The rookie left tackle was in tears as the Broncos' medical staff tended to him, and he had to be taken off the field on a cart since he couldn't put any weight on his left leg.
The Broncos initially feared that he might have suffered a broken ankle, but after the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam, it was revealed that he had only suffered a lower leg bruise and he's considered week-to-week.
"It's a lower-leg bruise, so we're very lucky that it wasn't serious. It's a lower-leg bruise. He's week-to-week. So we dodged a bullet in my opinion," Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said on Monday, via the team's official website.
That's a relief. Bolles would have been ruled out for the rest of the season if he had suffered a fracture. With a lower leg injury, he's only going to be on the shelf for a handful of games.
Donald Stephenson and Allen Barbre played in his place after he went down with the injury, and either one of them should get the start at left tackle when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 24.
As of this moment, Joseph refused to reveal who's getting the starting job, but he said they have a lot of options.
"We have lots of options that I won't share (Monday), but we have lots of options. We can insert guys and take guys out of certain spots and put someone at left tackle. It's a lower leg bruise, and he's week to week, and we'll cross that bridge when we have to,'' Joseph stated, via ESPN.
