Derrick is fan's choice to win this season in 'MasterChef US'
America's favorite home cook will now be revealed, as the season comes to its final episode. The remaining three home cooks, Derrick Peltz, Claudia Sandoval, and Stephen Lee, will now battle it out to earn a spot in the final 2 in the two-hour season finale of the "MasterChef US."
The three contestants now have to perfect their cooking skills and balance their taste levels as they present their dishes to the judges, Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Christina Tosi.
This season featured a group of eccentric but passionate home cooks that presented flavors that are native to their region, which the judges considered some of the series' best dishes.
Nick showed his Italian flair, Shelly followed her Jamaican roots, Claudia spiced her dishes using her Mexican origin, Hetal presented a new way to showcase Indian dishes, and Tommy surprised everyone with his Creole cooking background, which made Gordon Ramsay say he wants to "wake up" next to him.
According to some fans, this season's MasterChef should be Derrick, since the drummer showed he's versatile, imaginative, and was able to adapt to everything that the judges have thrown to the contestants. After all, Derrick also survived more pressure tests than any of the remaining contestants, which only proves that he can handle the pressure.
The 28-year-old home cook from Florida has shown he can bake, cook savory dishes, and elevate simple ingredients in a sophisticated way, just like his favorite, watermelon. In an interview with News Press, Derrick said that he enjoys showing people that there's a lot more he can do with the ingredient. "People don't realize how versatile it is," he said. "And there is more to come with watermelon, so stay tuned."
Viewers will see the two-hour cook-off between Claudia, Derrick, and Stephen in the MasterChef US season 6 finale this Wednesday on Fox.
