Derrick Rose Injury Update: Blurry Vision May Last Months

Bulls star Derrick Rose admits that his vision is still blurry while he continues his recovery from a left orbital fracture suffered during the preseason. While the former MVP is optimistic, his first year coach, Fred Hoiberg, told reporters on Sunday that Rose may actually have to deal with the double and blurry vision for a few more months.

The guard suffered the injury in training camp, while the team was conducting a regular practice routine on Sept. 29. He immediately went for surgery the day after the incident, but almost two months now, he still isn't a hundred percent.

Hoiberg told ESPN that the doctors revealed to the team that Rose may experience the blurred vision for three months at most. "But the vision has continued to improve, and that's obviously a positive," the rookie NBA coach added.

It is unclear, though, how much the injury has affected the 27-year-old guard's performance this season. However, one cannot deny that his number has been down this year, averaging only 12.6 points a game, which is quite low compared to his career average of 20 points.

But Rose himself seemed surprised of his coach's statement. "This is my first time hearing about it," talking about the likely three-month time line for the injury to completely heal. He also said that what he just wants is to think positive that it'll heal a lot faster than what is expected.

During the first couple of games of the season, Rose admitted that he was playing like he only had one eye opened. But with the protective mask, he's been a lot more comfortable inside the court, even showing his old deadly form of slashing right in the middle of the paint and dishing out to teammates on the wing. The Bulls earlier won against the Indiana Pacers, 96-95, improving their record to 7-3.
