'Deserve to Die' Posters Causing Confusion and Outrage
A new campaign is causing quite a stir after posters recently began to appear in major cities across the United States which state that some people "Deserve to Die."
The adverts which have been posted on street corners, bus stops and other public gather places around the country, show pictures of ordinary people with some captions reading "Hipsters Deserve to Die" and "Cat Lovers Deserve to Die."
The posters do not list a contact number or any other information identifying the organization responsible, but a quick search on the internet leads to the website- noonedeservestodie.org which has pictures of the posters and at the bottom of the webpage a clock is counting down to midnight Thursday when the "killer" will be revealed.
A message found at the bottom the webpage reads: "Every year over 160,000 lives are lost to a deadly disease. They didn't ask for it, but many people seem to think they deserved it. This disease doesn't discriminate. It affects almost all of us and it's showing no signs of slowing down. So, what is the killer? You'll find out soon enough."
The posters have drawn curiosity from all over the country with people not sure what to think of the controversial posters.
"No one understands it. People ask us what the hell is it about. And we say we don't know what the hell it is about," store owner Brad Steuerwald told WNGO.
"Yeah it could set someone off. I don't know, a mentally unstable person or whatever," Steuerwald added.
Other people feel that the content or message of the poster, without any further explanation or context, does not need to be seen by younger members of society who may interpret or get the wrong message from the adverts.
"Kids don't need to see it. They don't need to think it's okay to kill anyone," Roderick McPhail told WNGO.
